Dr Warren J Conrad pastor of First Westminster Presbyterian Keokuk elected moderator of the 60th Iowa Presbyterian synod at Iowa State College. He succeeds Rev H C Shiffler of Des Moines Highland Park church and has served on Parsons College board of trustees and Iowa board of national missions. He previously led Keokuk Ministerial Association and National Forum Club. Albert Love of Janesville named Iowa AAA chairman effective July 1 succeeding Cuy Smith of Russell who returns to Federal Crop Insurance Corp. Smith remains a Russell resident. Loveland had served on Bremer AAA committee.

Recover Lost Radium in 7-Barrel Ash Pile
Prof Ira J Gwinn of Morningside college recovered 2000 dollars worth of radium after examining a seven barrel ash pile with an electroscope and X ray film. The loss occurred when a hospital aide discarded a third fragment after removing two pieces from a dressing. Three students assisted. The radium, about a quarter the size of a match, belongs to Dr W H Gibbon.

Illinois Central worker wounded by knife through window
Fort Dodge report states Charles I. Hunt says a butcher knife was hurled through an open window of the Illinois Central roundhouse injuring him in the back by about a half inch. Hunt offered no motive and said he knew of no reason for the attack.
