Rainbow Girls organize Washington chapter at Y M C A ceremony
A Washington chapter of the Rainbow Girls was organized at the Y M C A late afternoon ceremony with charter members including seven from Wellman and two from Columbus Junction. The event was sponsored by the Order of the Eastern Star and the Masons, with Mrs. Jose Reid as worthy matron. Mrs. Serre at supreme instructor led the initiation, assisted by about forty Davenport Rainbow girls arriving by two chartered buses. A banquet followed for charter members, visitors, and Eastern Star members, with 110 in attendance. The group presented Mrs. Reid a gold gift, and a dance by De Molay boys closed the evening.

Washington June 24 The farm board marks stronger prospects for American agriculture in the 1930 crop year. Farmers form cooperative marketing groups to handle wheat cotton and corn. The grain stabilization fund holds back about 5.6 million bushels of grain while the cotton cooperative readies large new-crop shipments. Legge says these coordinated efforts should stabilize prices and aid growers with price-sensitive market actions. Farmers may borrow up to 86 percent of the value of grain stored as a hedge against low prices.

Death takes M. M. Anderson 80 in Washington
M. M. Anderson age 80 longtime Washington carpenter and builder died at home after a stroke. Funeral at 2 pm Wednesday at the Christian church Rev Bob Roll officiating burial in Shu Grove cemetery. Survived by three sons Harry Cloyce and Gerald. siblings and half siblings also listed. He was an Odd Fellow and active church member who helped build many local homes.
