Amos Rollie Connelly 75 died Saturday night at his farm home east of Pleasant Plain after a stroke. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Gould and Eden Funeral Home with Rev. FE. E. Voss officiating. Burial in Friends Cemetery, Pleasant Plain. Surviving are his widow Mildred Wells Connelly, two sons R. C. Connelly Richland and Gerald Connelly Anamosa, a daughter Mrs. Mary Stanley Fairfield, and seven grandchildren.

Fine Arts Festival Opens at SUI in Iowa City
Opening event of the 1958 State University of Iowa Summer Session Fine Arts Festival features a 43 work contemporary painting exhibit by 25 artists from past festivals. The show, curated by Edith Harper, marks the festival’s 20th anniversary with displays in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge East Lobby and Terrace Lounge. A Mexican art exhibit of 247 pieces opens July 1 in the Art Building Main Gallery, organized by the Michigan Museum staff with Mexican institutions.

Kaaba Shrine Band Plays Concert in Washington Wednesday
The 72 piece Kaaba Shrine Band of Davenport will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Central Park Washington. Sponsored by the Washington Shrine Club and the Washington Municipal Band the group features four Washington players and is led by Milburn C. McKay a former Washington area band director. The program spans Sousa light opera and pop tunes. The band has performed nationally and will feature in the Shrine convention parade in Chicago this summer.
