Farm Bureau accuses AAA of concealing errors in crop checks

The American Farm Bureau federation charges the agricultural department brain trust with arbitrarily shaving crop reduction payments to farmers to hide their production estimates mistakes. The telegram to Secretary Wallace and AAA administrator Chester Davis cites delays in cash for signed reduction agreements. Mr and Mrs Fred Morrison and their son visited from West Liberty yesterday.

Pilot Killed in Plane Crash in Burbank

A Central Airways passenger plane crashed near a fire station in Burbank California killing the pilot C N Kutcher just before boarding passengers for a Mexico flight. Witnesses said the aircraft exploded after the crash and an investigation was ordered by airline officials.

Congress Cost 40 Per Person for New Deal Session

Washington Iowa’s portion of the federal budget study shows the new deal Congress session cost about 192 560 dollars for the town of Washington and 98 837 560 dollars for the state of Iowa based on census figures. The 1930 census lists Washington population at 4814.

An intricate system carried rural children to Daily Vacation Bible School sites. Milan Shields drives about twenty miles to bring in 13 to Presbyterian school. In Hollywood California the president was given a degree despite being asked to present all speeches for it. The ceremony marked high prices for degrees as well as praise for his brain trust and Congress.

Ray Fo McGuire president of a Cedar Rapids company and K. H. Farrow secretarytreasurer traveled to Washington to interview county agents and arrange a future soybean growers meeting. Washington county ranks among Iowa's top producers with 85 carloads harvested. counties Des Moines Henry Wapell Maraswall Tama Blackhawk also yield heavily. The plant would process soybeans into meals oil dried beans and many derived products.

Scattered Rains May Materialize In Iowa Heat Wave

A second heat wave grips Iowa with temperatures near 100 and highs around 96. Fort Dodge marked 62 at seven this morning while Keokuk Iowa City Davenport and Burlington reported light showers. Forecasts predict only minor cooling tonight with scattered showers in the south central and eastern sections.

Funeral of Al Wagner Sunday at Shermans

Funeral services for Al Wagner are announced for two o clock Sunday afternoon at Sherman's funeral home with burial at Elm Grove cemetery. Dr. F. C. Witzigman will preside. Wagner died yesterday in Ottawa Illinois and his body arrives in Washington today. He spent most of his life near the city fall and had lived in Ottawa for several years.

Route Riders Mapped on Brighton Road Needing Assistance

Report lists several carriers on the Brighton road delivering to towns and families. Dave Fulton led northern routes to Clarence Rathmell and east to George Reeds with five children, aided once by Dave Elder. Jessie Klein traveled four miles out, delivering to four to six pupils, while Dick Stewart went five miles east. When unavailable, W. P. Biekel, Juelie Busby, and A. G. Arrasmith covered. Leigh Soule’s seven mile east route was aided by Bob Carson.

Wreck injures 25 aboard St Paul street car

A street car with control lost in a collision with a truck ran through crowded traffic in the loop district of St Paul injuring 25 passengers. Ambulances evacuated the injured to hospitals as police responded to the chaotic scene near Tilton and Wabasha streets.

Tire change ends in brutal accident in Norwalk

In Norwalk Joseph Polakevich was changing a truck tire when an inner tube exploded. He suffered a scalp wound and cinder burns to the eyes and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Merger Rejected by United Presbyterian Church

Press dispatches report the United Presbyterian church rejected the proposed merger with the Presbyterian church. The general assembly in Oxford Ohio decisively opposed the merger, despite prior approval by the Presbyterian assembly at Creve Coeur. If accepted, the plan would have moved to presbyteries for enforcement.

Washington county receives large oil allotment to fight bugs

A tank car carrying 10 000 gallons of creosote oil reached Washington county as the eleventh shipment in the campaign. Farmers lined up at 4 30 a m to receive 59 gallons each and by noon 109 000 gallons were dispensed. Additional cars were promised to Kalona and Brinton with a possible extra supply after H C Auberge signaled for more. The pests remain active despite rain and threaten corn fields if the battle is not won soon.

United States employment service released notices listing examinations for applicants applying for employment office manager and interviewer positions along with stenographer and typist posts.
