Frances Ceila McKee Eicher widow of Henry M. Eicher died at her home 325 East Main Street in Washington on Sunday morning at 9 30 She was born December 27 1866 in Washington Iowa and was a lifelong member of the United Presbyterian Church Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 4 30 pm at Shermans Funeral Home with Rev George Kerr The burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery
Mayor R L Lytle and Ivan Norton urge Washington residents to clear schedules for June 24 25 26 30 and July 1 2 to attend the civilian defense school. They request suspension of social events during those nights to ensure defense workers can participate and warn more names will be published tomorrow.
This morning about eight o'clock the fire department was called to 501 North Avenue C to address an incident at the location. Firefighters arrived quickly and assessed the scene, determining the extent of the emergency and ensuring public safety.
Plan Fifth Registration Captain Howard Miller of the Iowa State Guard reports a fire in a wash house started by a kerosene stove. The company of 56 will depart for camps from June 28 to July 11 and asks all members to attend weekly drill tonight for camp instructions.
