Ivy Planting Marks Penn Class Day Ceremony
Philadelphia June 21 The University of Pennsylvania held class day ceremonies with ivy planting and the presentation of the spoon and spade to honor men. The spoons and jade gifts were introduced in 1860 and this year were made by jewelers replacing the traditional cabinetmaker Daniel Palet. Mr Pabst, who crafted the spoons for fifty one years, died last summer. The ivy was planted beside Franklin Chevonne College Hall, the usual site, now fully vine covered.
