Gary Gentry, off a mindset shift, hurled a two hitter as the Mets edged the Phillies 2-0. He allowed a pair of singles, one in the fourth by Tim McCarver and another in the seventh by Oscar Gamble, to earn his sixth win. Donn Clendenon and Ken Singleton provided the offense with an early RBI and a third homer of the season. In other NL action Cincinnati downed Atlanta 6-1, Chicago routed St. Louis 15-5, San Francisco swept San Diego, Los Angeles topped Houston 5-4, and Pittsburgh beat Montreal 9-8.
