Tom Essex of Mt. Pleasant announced he has purchased Tom Duncan's Store for Women in Washington. Ownership transfer takes effect August 1. A closing out sale will run June 23 after store closure June 21 and 22. Mrs Helen Duncan sells as part of her late husband’s estate settlement. the store has long operated on the east side of the square.

Son of Omaha Doctor Dies in Pleasant Plain Crash
Terry W. McLaughlin, a Parsons College student and son of Dr. Charles W. McLaughlin of Omaha, was fatally injured when his car, driven by a Dr. McLaughlin, left a road two miles southwest of Pleasant Plain Friday night. The vehicle overturned after leaving the highway during a 90 degree turn. The family had not yet been informed.
