William G. McAdoo arrives in New York after a cross country trip and predicts winning the Democratic nomination. Thousands expected to greet him at the depot. Washington stop includes a visit to the Wilson home and a farewell from California rail workers.
New York June 18 women delegates and committee women to the Democratic convention say they will not operate as a bloc but vote as individuals. Mrs Emily Newell Blair, vice chairman, says they will express opinions on the floor without fear or favor. The women’s total voting strength is 462. Tammany celebrates a mixer campaign aimed at Governor.
The May parliamentary vote in Japan, for 464 House of Representatives seats, is the most expensive in the nation's history with estimates between 17 and 22 million dollars. About 1,000 candidates spent an average of 20 thousand dollars each, Morioka's Korekiyo Takahashi narrowly won by 49 votes, and Tokyo saw the highest individual outlay with Takagi spending 56 thousand dollars.
Springville Progressive Farmers club and the Community club of Whittier Iown Cedar Rapids forward a solemn protest to Mrs Calvin Coolidge over prizes for the best three essays on why a young man I know should attend the summer military training camp. Four bandits who robbed the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul mail train last Thursday north of Chicago are under arrest with four others ordered pursued. It was learned that dry and wet Democratic delegates in Missouri are so at odds they will travel to New York on separate trains. The drys arrive Sunday on The Ground Hog Special and six wet delegates will reach a few hours later on The Water Spaniel Limited.
More delegates than tickets will attend the convention with 1,486 delegates present though 1,334 tickets were printed. Isadore Dockweller, California national committeeman and chair of the arrangements committee, said overflow will be seated in gallery seats.

Some fields need replanting due to washout, while winter wheat remains fair. Strawberries and early cherries are ripening, potatoes and gardens prosper. Major damage hit Scott Muscatine Mills Lyon Cass Cherokee Harrison and Hamilton counties, with onions suffering in Scott.
Centerville June 18 County Attorney Max Kinney of Henry county was asked to conduct a further investigation into the death of Dugenia Cassell Italian who died after an inmate attack at Mount Pleasant State Hospital A second autopsy showed broken ribs and severe internal injuries. State board of control officials will visit Mount Pleasant to probe the assault and the hospital's procedures coroner's report cited pneumonia as the cause of death.
Dubuque was chosen as the 1925 convention site after Cedar Rapids withdrew its bid, at the Iowa Bankers Association meeting in Mason City. J C Wohlenberg of Holstein Savings Bank was elected president by a 203 to 68 vote over B E Dougherty of Creston, with M C Sweeney Osage as vice president, M C Hoffman Murray as treasurer, and Frank Warner Des Moines as secretary. The gathering concludes with addresses by F J Kent and Kenesaw M Landis. Cedar Rapids’ bid was withdrawn, leaving Dubuque as the field’s clear choice.
Senator M. L. Bowman of Waterloo resigns as secretary of the Iowa State Roads Association over policy disputes with the association’s leadership. The group, led by H. B. Alfree, backs an $85 million bond plan to surface about 2000 miles of primary roads, while Bowman favors gasoline tax funding and opposes the bond issue.
Ambassador Hanthara of Japan spoke at Brown University declaring lasting friendship and mutual aid between the United States and Japan.
