Couple Held After Baby Found in Sabula Outhouse Pit
Milford Kane and Ethel Christianson, both of Sabula, were bound over to the Jackson County grand jury on charges of leaving a dead body exposed after a newborn was found in an outhouse pit. Christianson admitted bearing the child about 10 days earlier and disposing of it two hours later. Kane was named as the father.

Seek Two Prisoners Who Walked Away From Montrose Farm
Authorities searched for Robertie J. Baird and Larry D. Spillman who escaped from the Montrose state penitentiary farm after a car theft was reported near Donnellson. Baird, 30, and Spillman, 21, were last seen east of Donnellson walking along a fence line Friday dusk. A black 1961 automobile with license 55 12432 was reported stolen in Donnellson early today. Baird is 5 ft 7 in, 153 lbs, blue eyes. Spillman 5 ft 11 in, 140 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes. Both wore light blue denim work clothes.

Floyd Yoder 14 son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Yoder of near Kalona died Friday at University Hospital in Iowa City after a three week illness. He was a Mid Prairie school student, born April 28 1946 near Kokomo Ind. Survivors include his parents two brothers Elmer Fred and three sisters Miriam Lavina and Laura Mae and grandparents Joe Hershberger Amboy. Funeral services Sunday at 2 pm CDT at Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church Kalona with burial at Fairview Cemetery. Yoder Funeral Home in charge.
