A dusty kettle behind a kitchen cabinet contained about $15,000 in 25 gold pieces dated 1860 to 1900 and nearly $45,000 in currency. Leibold died April 15 and named the Beno brothers as principal heirs.

Two Douglas bombers on Mitchell field maneuvers collided midair over Bellrose Manor Queens. Both aircraft crashed into streets and houses, sparking fires. Parachutes failed for two flyers. one opened late and burned in a kitchen. Bodies and wreckage spread across yards and sidewalks.

On Saturday afternoon a car driven by Leonard A. Lovelett went out of control on West Main street at the town edge. It struck a telephone pole after hitting a dirt ridge, causing about $20 in damage. Lovelett had a hand cut and passenger Pat McDole suffered a injured nose.

Eldora Alliman a Lone Rock Wisconsin teacher with an eleven month school year plans a late month visit to sister Lydia and family in Longview Washington. A Social Hour Club gathering hosted by Mrs P R Alliman on June 12 drew seven members. Betty Sinclair, a Burlington hospital graduate nurse, spent several days last week with her parents in the Max Sinclair home.
Washington city officials accept the plan to move primary roads 1 and 92 to use South Second avenue between East Madison and East Washington streets. The state to pave 20 feet on the two blocks if Washington adds seven feet on each side for a total 34 feet of pavement between curbs. Public safety and traffic relief drive the proposal.

Mrs. C Farrier and Mrs. Farrier traveled to Moline on Wednesday to visit Mr. Joe Rich who suffered a stroke about two weeks ago. She is a sister to Illeah A EB and Mr Farrier and was born and raised in the community. The latest report said he was a little better but very nervous.

Claude Pierce longtime Burlington railroad engineer and former Washington resident died yesterday in Burlington. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 PM in Winfield Presbyterian Church. The Pierce family had moved to Winfield. he retired on a pension and had been in poor health. He and his wife lived with their daughter in law part of his illness and are survived by his wife and one grandchild.
Barclay to Rutgers Charles M. Barclay assistant cashier of the Washington state bank left Saturday for Rutgers university New Brunswick New Jersey where he is entering the graduate school of banking conducted by the American Bankers Association for advanced study of recent developments in banking. An advanced school for bank officers this course is attended by 600 men from banks across the country. The course spans two weeks of resident sessions at the university for three years and two years of home extension work under the faculty. The work covers banking investments economics business law trusts savings and related fields.
In Boone County district court a jury was chosen to try the case of the state versus Charles Allen of Des Moines. The trial was adjourned when it was noticed the defendant was not present in court.
