Drowning Search for Arthur Ludwig Continues
Anthon police continue the search for Arthur Ludwig, about 30, who drowned in a ditch south of town Tuesday evening. He and five companions were fishing in flood waters when Ludwig jumped in fully clothed and announced a swim. Carey Drossel said he leaped after Ludwig to aid him but was nearly pulled under by the swift current.

State Center Man Pays Fine in Auto Accident
Leo FE Kielly, 41, of State Center, pleaded guilty to failing to render aid after an auto crash involving Harold Anderson. He was fined $1,000 or 10 months in jail plus $52.60 costs and faces a manslaughter indictment from the January incident on Twenty-first Street. Anderson, 32, of Des Moines, died after stopping to help others in a prior accident.
