Former defense secretary Louis Johnson testifies that Dean Acheson first proposed US intervention in Korea. Johnson says the military gave passive concurrence and did not oppose the move, while noting leaders debated the risks but did not block the decision.
Senator Joseph R. McCarthy charged Defense Secretary George C. Marshall and Secretary of State Dean Acheson with participating in an administration plot to weaken the United States and invite Soviet and Russian influence.
