Robbers Attempt To Rob Station At Anamosa

Anamosa Iowa June 13 two men tried to hold up Ralph Griffith 33 filling station operator. They shot him after a brief talk as they fled in a car with a black Hawk county license. Griffith died from bullet wounds.

June Rain Totals Boost Washington County Crops

Rain from the first twelve days of June measures 38.1 inches, easing last season’s moisture deficit in Washington County. Recent showers added 0.47 inch yesterday afternoon, giving over an inch for Thursday night and Friday. Farmers seek a few dry days to tend corn and alfalfa as weeds appear and fieldwork resumes. A similar July 13 and 14 1930 rainfall record of 9.63 inches is recalled.

Objectors win injunction blocking county farm bureau funds

Tipton Iowa June 18. J C France leads objectors to compulsory cattle tuberculosis testing in Cedar County. Judge F O Ellison grants a temporary injunction stopping the board of supervisors county auditor and county treasurer from issuing more funds to the county farm bureau under state law for agricultural work. The bureau has collaborated with state officials on cattle tests.

Vacation Pupils Swim at the Y During Bible School

The Daily Vacation Bible School at Keota Presbyterian Church uses the Y swimming pools under Rev. FP Eastwood. Boys meet Monday Wednesday Thursday mornings and girls Tuesday Friday mornings. First week enrollment reached 104 pupils. Keota school enrolled 52. Walter Eastwood served as superintendent, bringing 17 boys and 22 girls to swim.

Church riot over procession ban shocks Nicasero

Bakers Seek Restoration of KTNT Radio Broadcast

Attorneys for Norman Bakery Muscatine Iowa said they plan new court action to restore KTNT to the air. KTNT went off the air after the District of Columbia Court of Appeals vacated its stay order from June 5 following the Federal Radio Commission ruling that the programs were not tolerable.
