In Marshalltown a burglar entered the W. D. Dunkerton residence and took 70 dollars from a purse while leaving four dollars behind. Nearby a Renault pair Ralph Fran sum and Margaret Johnson, en route to a dance, avoided a collision when a jackrabbit jumped into their windshield, killing the animal.
In Marshalltown a 100 year old Melbourne resident Mrs. Nancy Vanderceer greeted 105 guests who stopped by during the day to honor her birthday.
The town of Holstein marks the 100th birthday of its resident priest Lena Hanssen known as Grandma. Five generations are expected to attend the Sunday celebration in honor of her century milestone.
The Vene Tiannens family faced several ailments in Rockwell City. Dale, 6, broke his leg while playing with a pony. Immemt, 10, suffered poison ivy exposure. Bernadine, 49, was stricken with appendicitis.

Orville Foss manager of the Modern Appliance store here has bought a partnership in a Modern Appliance store in Mr Pleasant and plans to move Monday. Mrs Vorheis owns two Modern Appliance stores at Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant. Foss will manage the Mr Pleasant store and the Foss family resides at 621 North Second Avenue.
Keokuk Iowa June 12 John P Stephenson 91 the last Keokuk veteran of the Civil War died today as the result of a fall.
Evelyn Turner has returned to Ames to spend the summer with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Turner.
