Senator Wallace shot to death in courthouse after primary win
State Sen. Paul A. Wallace 56, a veteran Democrat and farmer, was fatally shot by County Court Clerk Henry A. Rogers 63 inside the Marlboro County courthouse sheriff's office minutes after Wallace secured victory in the state Democratic primary. Rogers, a longtime friend and business associate, fired five shots with a .32 caliber pistol before surrendering. Wallace died 40 minutes later at Marlboro General Hospital.
