An assistant manager at Hills Department Store disrupted a Saturday night holdup at Valley Bank and Trust Co by pushing receipts into the night depository after being slugged by the suspect Robert Burns. Burns, who escaped after the deposit, left the money bag behind. bank staff confirmed the funds were safe.
At Williamsburg the school board approved contracts totaling 603000 dollars for a new junior and senior high school building and related construction work.
Adlai Stevenson refused to use President Eisenhower health as a campaign issue though he stressed good health is vital for the presidency.
