Suspect surrenders in Des Moines triangle killing

Five Youths Turned Over To Juvenile Court

Five youths linked to a joy ride in two stolen cars were turned over to juvenile authorities. Four were brought home from Muscatine by city police and the fifth was caught near Crawfordsville. Suspects include Cheryl White 13 Linda White 14 John Anderson 17 Frank Manning 15 and James Carpenter 15. Four are Washington residents while Carpenter lives on route two Mt Pleasant and may be sent to Mt Pleasant authorities.

Nancy Osincup Wins Dorotty Lowell Music Scholarship

Nancy Osincup, selected by the Fortnightly Club, will study voice at Drake University for several weeks this summer. She was one of three in the state to receive the honor, recommended by her local club, music teacher, and church, and begins study in July. Nancy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Osincup and plans to be a high school senior this fall after working part time at Osincup Drug Store.

Giant Transport Plane Missing Over Pacific Storm

A giant C133 jet transport with eight American airmen aboard is missing east of Tokyo after takeoff from Tachikawa. The Air Force reports 23 tons of cargo to Midway Island, fuel for about until 9 p.m. EDT, and nineteen search planes with nine ships combing the stormy sea for wreckage or signs of an emergency landing. Names of six crew members are identified including Maj. Lawrence J. Coretti, Capt. Ray L. Willman, Capt. Donald F. Holmes, 1st Lt. Nathan L. Patterson, TSgt. Howard J. Otero, and SSgt. Billy R. Edwards. two other crewmen’ identities were withheld pending notify families.
