Edward La Durrie, 42, former Des Moines inmate who spent 25 years at Anamosa reformatory, rode in a modern car yesterday before being returned to custody today. He was charged in 1925 with the murder of B. F. Thomas, a Des Moines hotel clerk, and ruled insane.

In Des Moines on June 10 a last minute write in bid failed as Bob Hansel of Dubuque won the Hawkeye boys state election on the federalist ticket with 307 votes. Heeg er of Sioux City trailed with 222 and Kenneth Felderman of Clinton had 173. 18 of 720 eligible boys did not vote. Cedar Rapids sent 36 boys and elected nine of 16 state officers. Mrs. Lewis Morgan 1 dies at her Pharr Texas home at 9 45 Friday morning June 4 after a seven week heart illness. Born February 12 1867 in Wales she came to the U S at 14 and married Lewis Morgan December 10 1891 in Denver Colorado. Funeral services were held Sunday June 6 with burial in Roselawn Cemetery McAllen. Survivors include two daughters and a son in law. She lived on the farm north of Pharr for 33 years and was a Pharr Baptist Church member.

Nineteen boys and fifty five girls from Washington county 4-H clubs are set for the District 4-H camp at Camp Eastman near Nauvoo Illinois starting Sunday June 13.
