Chamber Appeals for Return of Ridiculous Day Banners
Merchants and officials today appealed to Washington youngsters to return the Ridiculous Day banners taken from lamp posts in the business district before the annual event last week. Parents were urged to recover banners from homes as well. Officials noted no punishment for returning banners, but stressed they are needed next year and will be appreciated. Banners had hung on lamp posts and were removed after street repairs and by souvenir hunters.

Nine Hurt In Two Iowa Accidents Near Grandview
Nine persons were injured in two related accidents on Iowa 92 about one mile west of Grandview. A head on collision wounded eight, and a following car struck the slowed vehicle. One woman, Mrs. Koestner, sustained a broken jaw with possible leg and hip fractures, while others had minor injuries. No charges were filed.

Lightning Strikes Car Near Dubuque Sunday
Two women suffered minor injuries when lightning struck a car near Dubuque Iowa on a Sunday. The bolt hit the radio antenna ripping it off and damaging the windshield while a concrete slab broke loose and pinned two back seat occupants. The victims Mrs. Fred Gezel and Mrs. George Engel were treated at Finley Hospital and released.
