John Minteor foreman of the Free Press office suffered a serious accident Friday morning when the second finger on his right hand was crushed in the printing press. The injury required partial finger removal and stitches at Pleasant Republican, Jones. Watermelon King Finds Pearl Worth $1000 at Bellevue
Benjamin Williams of Bellevue while clam digging in the Mississippi River found a pocket pearl described as the finest and largest seen in the area. The 31 2 grain gem, marble sized and flawless, was sold Wednesday to a Clinton man for about $1,000.
