Astonia NC June 8 UP Chief of Police E F Aderholt died from shotgun wounds after attempting to disperse a mass meeting of Textile strikers. A suspected labor agitator Carter from Chester PA confessed firing on officers. Deputy Sheriff Roach and Motorcycle Officer Ferguson were among those wounded. Police arrested several textile strikers as possible suspects. Fred Erwin Baal, a strike leader, disappeared after the shooting.
