Freeman May Provide Aid for Wheat Farmers
Washington reports that Agriculture Secretary Orville Freeman may add 200 to 300 million dollars to the 1964 wheat crop value by activating a plan tied to a 1964 feed grain program. Experts say substitution could raise program costs by about 11 million and cushion wheat prices, with details requiring farmers to enroll in the feed grain program and idle roughly 20 percent of their 1959 60 plantings. Price supports would fall to 1.25 per bushel for 1964 unless farmers participate.

Body found in convertible ties Chicago fence slaying
Kenneth Gordon 40, former Chicago pawnbroker, was found shot six times in the front seat of a 1961 Pontiac convertible. The case ties to a 1950s interstate theft ring with other indicted men, including Albert Schwartz and Kenneth McLeod, who faced trials and reversals before convictions. Gordon had a long police record and recently shifted to large scale stolen merchandise, with associates failing in Detroit and Ferndale cases.
