Rash Trial Jury Is Released from Duty
Des Moines reports the jury in the T. G. Rash driving while intoxicated case could not reach a verdict after 48 hours. Judge Lou Ladd dismissed the panel noting no prospect of agreement. Paul J. Burroughs of Albion was one of three Navy men killed in a mid air collision of two planes from the heavy cruiser Chester off San Clemente Island near San Diego California. Ford suspends assembly for day over motor shortage
Detroit June 7 Ford Motor company suspended assembly of automobiles and trucks probably for one day due to a motor shortage from a slow down strike on the River Rouge line. Enough motors were expected today to allow assemblies to resume Monday. All other River Rouge plant operations continued normally according to Ford's production office.

Runaway Injures Local Farm Worker Near Schantz Farm
William Hinkle aged 25 employed by Dave Schantz on a south town farm was injured when a team of horses bolted on Wayland road near the Schantz home. The wagon overturned, causing bruises, two knocked out teeth, and a slight concussion. He was unconscious briefly and treated by a physician who said a short hospital stay was unlikely.
