Neu opposes higher tuitions in state university funding fight
Lt. Gov. Arthur Neu and party leaders said the Senate will not accept House plans to raise tuition by cutting state aid to the three state universities. Senate leaders expect a major battle to restore Gov. Ray's $235.3 million budget request for 1973-75 as House cuts $10.7 million. Nonresident and resident tuition would rise under House plan, spurring Neu to vow no in-state tuition increase.
