Memorial Day Address Reflects on War, Immigrants, and Unity
A veteran speaker reflects on Civil War memory and the United States' duties in peacetime. He praises veterans pensions and monuments, condemns slavery's legacy, warns about immigration, capitalism versus labor, and calls for unity under law. The address lauds Iowa’s memorials at Shiloh Vicksburg and Andersonville and honors prisoners of war.
