Crop Bulletin Des Moines Iowa Week Ending June 5 2005

Des Moines Iowa reports show the best week of the season with below average rainfall and above normal temperatures. Scattered showers delayed some farm work but conditions remained favorable with good progress in replanting cultivation and corn cleaning. Late planted fields germinate well and overall corn condition is better than last year with dryer, cleaner fields and improved color. Moisture and heat support normal growth of grasses and crops, abundant strawberries being harvested, apples dropping in the south, light cherry crop, and grapes showing liberal fruiting.
