Mrs. M. L. Bowman sues a Fond du Lac drug firm and a St. Louis hair dye maker for 20000 dollars claiming loss of hair after using a advertised hair stain. Judge J. W. Quarles overrules the drug company’s demurrer and allows the complaint to proceed for damages.
W A Holly of Coldwater Michigan was elected president of the Fraternity of Operative Millers of America at the convention's closing session in Milwaukee. Other officers named include S B Raithley of Chicago as first vice president John B Watkins of St Louis as second vice president and Joseph P Miller of Chicago as secretary treasurer.
In West Nashville Edgar Serber sixteen was shot in the street by fifteen-year-old Jesse Mc Pherson a minister's son. The youth used a shotgun firing twice blowing off the top of Serber's head. Mc Pherson said Serber had spoken about him.
The Wholesale Grocers' association chose Louisville Kentucky as next year's convention seat D H Bethard of Peoria was elected president and Samuel Mahon of Ottumwa Ia was named to the executive committee.

In Helena Montana June Judge Hunt summarily removed James S Goodwin United States commissioner at Custer Yellowstone county from office He is now under arrest on a charge of horse stealing.
The general consent petition in Council Bluffs Iowa was filed with the county auditor containing 3,364 names about 300 more than required.
A farmer named William Reike aged thirty living near Farmersburg was found hanging in his barn. Despondency is the supposed cause of the deed.
The forty sixth general assembly adjourned sine die last night in Springfield Alabama as the session closed.
Chicago markets show steady hog prices with receipts around 13 000 daily and mixed packers at 7 20 to 7 75. Cattle and sheep receipts about 700 and 1500 respectively, with general market strength noted and prices for porkers pigs and various hog grades listed.

Missouri Pacific and St. Louis Iron Mountain and Southern Railway Co. admitted guilt before Judge Trieber in Little Rock Ark. for illegal grain rebates. Fines totaled 15 000 dollars for the two railroads and 15 000 and 2 500 dollars for two officials and the merchant involved. The Justice Department found the railroads technically guilty under the Elkins law, noting company liability for agent actions.

Seisen claims $10,000, others $3,000 each, against First National Bank of Council Bluffs and named individuals including Ernest Hart and Ben Marks. Maybray jailed in Des Moines awaiting trial. The Philadelphia Rapid Transit strike ends after one week with workers to resume at 22 cents an hour and a ten hour day. The agreement includes abolishing the swing system and a grievance committee, as well as uniform purchase policies and wage review potential after city audit findings. Disturbances occurred citywide, with a trolley car burned and a policeman injured as crowds clashed with authorities.
Baltimore officials say strike conditions are settled in B and O shops with protests against piece work. The action has spread to East Philadelphia and Keyser, Virginia. Strikers claim all men are out at Connellsville Newark O New Castle Junction and Parkersburg.

A bold attempt to wreck and rob the Golden State Limited near Duran New Mexico failed after a freight train struck the obstruction. The robbers fired on the crew and fled on horseback, leaving ties and rails on the track.
