Mrs J A Raymond Dies at 54 in Crawfordsville

Mrs. J A Raymond, 54, of Crawfordsville died Friday June 4 1965 at Washing Ital Hospital. She was born Mary Hazel Everly November 5 1910 in Lancaster Missouri and married Jess A Raymond April 12 1930. Survived by husband a daughter six grandchildren three sisters and three brothers. Funeral Monday at 2 p m at Jones Funeral Home with Rev Robert Rushing officiating. Burial in Crawfordsville cemetery.

Marines Beat Off Attackers Near Da Nang Bridge

U.S Marines repelled a 50 guerrilla assault on a bridge near Da Nang. Three Viet Cong and two Marines were wounded in the brief fight. An allied air or ground operation near Bien Hoa and further Viet Cong hit and run raids produced additional casualties, including a child killed in a police station raid.

Hughes demands adjournment ends Iowa session

Gov Harold Hughes told Democratic leaders the current Iowa General Assembly must adjourn today. He blasted lawmakers for tabling a subdistricting amendment and warned the courts may act. He urged budget balance steps and hinted at options to close the gap while noting he is not happy with the impasse. Lt Gov Fulton and key House and Senate leaders attended the briefing.

Considerable cloudiness through Saturday with showers and thunderstorms affecting 60 to 80 percent of the state today and tonight. Locally severe storms and heavy rain possible. Saturday showers and thunderstorms may cover 30 to 50 percent in the east and south. Cooler northwest tonight and in west and central portions Saturday. Lows tonight 50 to 55 north 60 to 65 south. Highs 70 to 75. Sunday outlook partly cloudy and cooler.

Washington County Voters to Decide 750000 Hospital Bond

Voters will cast ballots next Thursday June 10 on whether Washington County should erect and equip a new county hospital addition funded by 750000 in bonds and a tax up to 1.25 mills The plan places the new building east of the present hospital and utilizes the old building for minimal care while heating is shared with the new structure Federal funds would cover about one third of the cost and could not be used for remodeling the 53 year old building which would remain in service.
