Lin db ergh to attempt Pacific flight as improvements proceed on a new high school and junior college athletic field. The project includes lighting, drainage, sod replacement, poles ordered at sixty feet, fencing planned, and seating to be added later. The field, five acres in area, was leased recently from Dr Macon and is expected to attract night events and increase revenues.
In Oklahoma a bank robbery ends in gunfire as two brothers attempt to flee. Frank Carver is killed when a posse traps him after a clerk is freed and a cashier and assistant are forced outside. Crum wounds one bandit from the bank window before Town Marshal Crowder and deputies strike.
Washington reports on June 4 that U S commerce officials say the new Canadian tariffs imperil less than four percent of 1930 exports. Julius Klein says Canada's moves mirror protective methods here and prepare for upcoming reciprocal tariff talks with British dominions next fall.
Cedar Rapids Iowa June 4 All officers of the Eastern Iowa Livestock Association will serve another year. President Karl Elijah of Clarence, vice president Theodore Oriez of Washington, and secretary treasurer R C McElhinney of Dysart are reappointed. Sam G Thompson remains manager. The group has handled over 1 590 000 dollars in livestock since its birth and helped raise local prices.
Miss Ferne Duncan and her mother Mrs. W S Duncan traveled to Cedar Rapids this afternoon for a party tonight honoring Duncan as a bride to be hosted by a Coe college friend. O R Mayo and his son Maurice also went to Ottumwa this afternoon on a business trip.

Cedar Falls council at a special meeting approved an amended ordinance on third reading legalizing Sunday movies and theatrical performances. The first Sunday show is set for June 7 following a citywide referendum approval.

Professor C W Wassam of the University of Iowa college of commerce died by hanging in his home garage in Iowa City. He was 53, had been in poor health after a nervous breakdown about three years earlier, and his body was found at 2 15 p m today.

The German seaplane Dornier DO-X resumed its flight to South America from Porto Praia Cape Verde after an interruption. The British steamer Teresa sighted the DO-X at 3:65 p.m. near 10 N 22 W, reported to be making good progress with all aboard well.
