University of Iowa Grants Degrees to 1050 Graduates Today
The University of Iowa conferred 1 059 degrees at the sixty eighth commencement in Iowa City. Thousands attended the formal exercises, described as the largest graduating class in the university’s history. President Walter A. Jessup delivered a short charge to the seniors. Lewis Mast Dies in Hospital Today
Louis David Mast, 37, died at 10 25 am at Washington county hospital after a three week illness and an operation last week. Funeral set for Wednesday at two at the Mast home two miles southeast of town. Born July 8 1896 in Crawford township to Henry and Mary Mast, he married Jemima Lance February 25 1915. Survived by widow, parents of Wayland, and brothers Gladden and Paul of Crawfordsville. He was a member of Eicher Mennonite church and a respected farmer.

Paving Worker Badly Injured In Load Unloading Incident
Bert Berner of Toronto, a paving lane worker at Titus, was seriously injured this afternoon while unloading cars. He was driving a horse with a windlass setup when a single-tree broke, causing a sweep to strike him in the abdomen. He was taken to the county hospital with feared internal injuries. doctors expect to assess the damage in hours. Berner is 41 years old.
