Double wedding at First Methodist Church unites Booth and Weston couples
A large bouquet setting and candelabra framed a double wedding on Sunday June 2 at First Methodist Church. Roger D Booth of Washington wed Sandra K Weston of Cedar Rapids and Doug Booth of Burlington married Sheri Driver of Mt. Pleasant. Officiating minister was Rev. M O Smith. Both brides wore ornate gowns, attended by family and friends, with flower girls Pam Barnes and Laurie Kauffman. A reception followed, and the couples planned honeymoons to Wisconsin Dells and Colorado before establishing homes in Burlington.

Not Jewish Names Stirer Of Human Brotherhood
A reader letter pile in the Dear Abby column explores how a Christian named Naomi Ruth Lehman feels honored to be mistaken for Jewish, while a Jewish bearer of a Christian sounding name shares similar frustrations. A Philadelphia dentist recalls an Irishman named George M. Cohen mistaken for Jewish, and a Northbrook, Illinois report notes a traffic safety symposium linking thinking about being stopped with lawfulness. The pieces reflect on identity, prejudice, and social perception.
