During the manoeuver the Russian flagship appeared to the south at 145 o'clock. The Russians steamed up in double column and seemed in good order though no living beings were visible. Dayon June 2 Pennsylvania express train No. 28 from St. Louis struck an oil wagon at Stillwater Junction. The oil tank burst and the engine fires ignited the oil, burning to death engineer Edward Gimby and fireman Charles Pryor of Columbus Ohio. The wagon driver escaped unharmed. The train was not damaged.
Henry Charles Richards Conservative member of parliament and vocal advocate for old age pensions has died at Loudon. He was aged 4.
