Reports from Brazilian political turmoil state revolutionary forces retreated from Sao Paulo and government troops occupied the city. U S authorities confirmed Americans in the city were safe and the situation was returning to normal as celebrations began in Santos following rumors of the revolution’s end.
London July 28 American proposals to ease the deadlock over security for the Dawes loan to Germany were presented at the inter allied conference. The plan mixed the original security framework with Theunis of Belgium’s idea to consult the Dawes committee before sanctions. A further expert meeting is set for Wednesday to continue discussions.
A Des Moines woman’s year old daughter drowned in the Des Moines river below Fraser dam while a party waded in a deep area. Others were rescued as the tragedy occurred at Boone on July 28, marking the first drowning of the year locally.

Chicago July 28 The corn market saw heavy activity with May delivery hitting $1 a bushel the highest price for that delivery this season, surpassing wheat in trading volume.

Properties not purchased may be taken over later by appraisal.
Keokuk July 28 one man killed and another fatally injured with twelve others hospitalised after weekend accidents. James Tigue died when his auto overturned Saturday night. John Mecum is expected to die from injuries. Police report charges of driving while intoxicated against the weekend accident driver.
Babylonian scholars misread a bronze fragment from an Ur sceptre as a bell clapper. University of Pennsylvania Museum archaeologists identify the piece as the 3 194 year old bronze sceptre of King Dungi of Ur, dated to 2270 B C. Dr Leon Legrain uncovered the inscription while cleaning the collection.
A Japanese steamship Takei Maru went down off Cape Notoro near Hokkaido at 10 45 p m, drowning 160 people. The vessel owned by North Japan Steamship Company carried 138 passengers and 54 crew. 18 passengers and 5 crew survived.
Revised counts from the Texas primary show Lynch Davidson of Houston edging Miriam Ferguson for second place and a runoff spot with Judge Felix Robertson. W Hf Coffman of Kinross spent Saturday in town, visiting local shops and meeting residents. He toured the main street and spoke briefly with merchants before returning home.

Mr and Mrs Lynn Jones of Williamette Illinois spent the weekend at the J R Maxwell home. Mrs Jones was Miss Martha Maxwell. They drove down and found the roads very good. W H Coffman of Kinrosa was in Washington Saturday.
