DES MOINES Iowa's top elected official Gov Robert D Ray called the Apollo 11 moon landing fantastic at a news conference after he and his family watched the landing walk and astronauts tasks late into the night He noted his three children were less excited than he was and the story continued on Page 6.
Edgartown Mass UPI reports a motor vehicle complaint to be filed against Sen. Edward M Kennedy charging leaving the scene of an accident after a secretary was killed in a ditch crash. Police chief Arena planned to file in Edgartown District Court between 8 30 and 9 a m today.
Houston reports Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. completed the first lunar surface exploration and sealed themselves in the Eagle for rest before beginning the hazardous voyage home to Earth.
Space Center Houston reports Armstrong and Aldrin lifted off the moon at 1 54 p m EDT after a 21 hour 36 minute stay. They planted the flag gathered about 80 pounds of lunar samples and spoke with the President, marking a new era of space exploration amid worldwide viewership.
