Protest Over Soviet Fire On U S Grain Ship In Black Sea
The United States protested three shots fired across the bow of the S S Sister Katingo and a Soviet search in the Black Sea after the ship unloaded wheat in Novorossiysk. Captain Artur Fertig said a patrol vessel ordered return to harbor and a naval craft fired three rounds. He was fined, signed documents, and the ship proceeded to Istanbul.

Barn and shed burn on Greiner farm north of Richland
Fire destroyed a large three story barn and a 60 by 120 shed on Raymond Greiner farm four miles north of Richland. Fire crews from Richland Ollie Keota and Packwood fought the blaze to 1 a.m. All hay was lost but no machinery or livestock. Greiner family has endured two prior fires. Also reported is the death of Mrs Edna Caldwell Allaman 69 in Roseville Illinois from a stroke.
