July 18 at Council Hill Illinois Central passenger train from Chicago was speeding when engineer Bell saw children on the track. He reversed and blew the air but the little 3 year old girl ran onto the pilot. He grabbed her before Dubuque and passengers presented him a purse honoring his courageous act.
