Springfield Ill July 17 Adjutant General Reep ordered Colonel Bennett at Carterville to investigate charges by State Secretary Treasurer Ryan of United Mine Workers that the shootings last Monday night were carried out by the soldiers themselves. Bennett reports no truth to the claim and says affidavits will confirm the troops did not fire on themselves or the train or dynamite the mine.
