Steel Workers Sign Pact for Wage Increase
Pittsburgh July 16 C S Steel Corp and the United Steelworkers have agreed on a third round wage increase averaging 13 cents an hour for 170000 hourly paid employees. The raise ranges from 2 to 24 cents an hour for various skilled and common jobs and will be followed by higher product prices. Fairless said the increase amounts to about 9 percent and marks the abandonment of big steel’s inflation fighting plan.
