France and United States plan grand naval pageant at Quebec
Vice President Fairbanks will act in the same capacity as president, while the French republic leads a large delegation and battleships. Rear Admiral Cowles will be the president's naval representative, with Lt Cmdr Sellers as aide. New Hampshire sails from Newport to Quebec for the July 22 arrival of the Prince of Wales. About 30 to 40 warships are expected for the St Lawrence pageant extending two weeks. The panoramic drama traces Quebec’s ascent from wilderness to present day on Cape Diamond with 4000 participants. Rehearsals run under Frank Lascelles, with scenes of Champlain’s era and later periods.
