Robbery at Smith's Emporium in Muscatine

Smith's Emporium in Muscatine was entered by thieves who stole more than 400 georgette waists valued over $2,000. The robbers likely hid in the cloak closet, removed garments from walls and racks, and escaped through the rear door after Mr. Smith left to catch a streetcar. The act appears skilled, not amateur, with footprints and heel marks indicating a planned theft. A tall red haired woman and two men were seen acting suspiciously that afternoon.
