Atlanta firefighter Elmo Bell rushed from home after a general alarm, backtracked to fetch his missing teeth, then returned to the fire. He explained he could not leave his teeth behind and would likely be on duty for a while, and a man gets hungry.
President Eisenhower called Tuesday's House rejection a temporary defeat and pledged to press ahead with his health program. He condemned socialized medicine while saying a plan to aid lower income groups is needed. He outlined other issues from Dulles talks to highway funding and budget questions.

A propane gas fire near Clear Lake Highlands in Lakeport California left three dead and ten injured after explosions destroyed a gas company office structure a home seven summer cottages and four automobiles. Paris reports say the United States France and Britain have worked out a deal to pave the way for an Indonesian peace possibly by Monday. President Eisenhower has agreed to return Under Secretary Walter Bedell Smith to Geneva for the Indochina peace conference. Smith will arrive Saturday.
The shirt presumed to be the missing one worn by Marilyn Sheppard’s killer husband Dr. Samuel Sheppard was recovered from Lake Erie near their suburban Cleveland home. Divers searched the lake for the metal murder weapon while investigators pursued leads about another possible woman, questioning nurse Susan Hayes.
IOOF lodge in Washington installed officers Tuesday evening. Myron Salladay and Henry Wagenknecht led the ceremony with district deputy grand master and district deputy grand marshal assisting. Names of officers include Raymond Kephart as past grand and Albert Wehr as noble grand with Forrest Walker as vice grand and Forrest Brock as warden.

In Ile Bizard Quebec police described a holiday boat tragedy on Lake of Two Mountains. A 12-foot boat carrying 19 people overturned after a sudden pop as weight shifted, drowning 12 children. Survivor Reggie Walton, 11, cried that something popped before the disaster.

Eldon Lester Orris 78 native of Washington and former community resident died Tuesday in a Cedar Rapids nursing home. Survived by son Erald Orris of Lockridge daughters Vera Hanshaw Cedar Rapids and Mrs Orville Thompson Toddville Iowa sister Mrs Gilbert Goff Rock Island five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Kalona residents will vote August 16 in a special election to decide if Iowa Electric Light and Power may receive a 25 year franchise to operate in Kalona. The company currently serves local customers.
