Riverside man builds lifelong Indian artifact collection
Robert M. Wieland, 68, a Riverside resident and retired farmer, has spent about 45 years amassing hundreds of Indian artifacts. His displays fill a room, with arrowheads, rocks used for scraping hides, and items resembling a skull, unearthed around the confluence of Washington Johnson and Louisa counties. The collection, including more than 500 arrowheads, drew crowds during Riverside’s centennial, and Wieland has refused offers, saying the hobby is not for sale. He remains active with his four sons and 13 grandchildren, while his wife arranges the finds.
