Levees Fail Flood Waters In Kansas City Inundating Industrial Core
Flood waters from the Kansas river breached levees and flooded two major districts in Kansas City Missouri causing shutdown of the Turkey Creek pumping station which provides two thirds of the city water. Three people died and thousands were left homeless as rescue crews battled the rising river threatening the area around the stockyards and central industrial district.

Man Rescued After 32 Hours Adrift At Sea
Ted Sierks the 40 year old cameraman from Catalina Island survived 32 hours in the Pacific after being washed overboard from the racing sloop L Apache during the Honolulu race. He was plucked by the USS Munro about 30 miles northeast of the rescue site. Sierks said he fought choppy seas and killed a seven foot shark while fending off others as he waited for rescue.

She has been with Mount Pleasant schools directing small vocal groups for contests and taught music and English for six years in Ainsworth. Her son Larry a high school sophomore will accompany her. They will visit Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Pennepacker in Billings Montana en route.
