Liveryman Reports Theft of Team and Escape to Des Moines

Delta liveryman Tom Beatty reported a team stolen along with employee Bert Siders last Thursday. The chase led to Oskaloosa where the team was found in Calkins’ livery barn and Siders’ description matched, including a Des Moines ticket. Sheriff Laffer pursued further but could not locate them at that time.

Keosauqua Officials Arrest Warrant Over Farmington Sidewalk Row

Gasoline launch explosion near Burlington

A gasoline launch owned by A. E. Davis of Burlington Fuel exploded in the river six miles above Burlington. Eight aboard—A. E. Davis and wife, W. W. Lilly and wife, Captain Al Springer, Charlie Davis, Mrs. Chester Lillibridge, and Mrs. B. E. Lilly of Muscatine—survived after rescue by the government lightboat Lilly. Captain Springer was severely burned and several others suffered burns.
