Whites and Negroes march on Sunday in Bogalusa
About 500 whites protested desegregation in Bogalusa Louisiana on Sunday with Confederate flags and rebel yells. Around 600 Negroes later staged a march along the same route as state police watched, some carrying submachine guns, with helicopters overhead. One white man arrested for blocking the Negroes with a steel length. Similar tensions erupted in Allentown South Carolina over a Black ex convict’s death.

Six injured in Sigourney Iowa house explosion
An early Sunday explosion rocked a one story frame house in Sigourney Iowa injuring a family of six. Mr and Mrs Albert Engle and their four children ages three to 14 were burned with the children in serious condition at a nearby hospital while the parents were hospitalized in Iowa City.

The Ayrshire Breeders Association of Brandon Vermont announces Marion Timmins R1 West Chester Iowa completing its 12th year on official Ayrshire Herd Test with 23 lactation records averaging 10903 pounds of milk. The herd tests 4.1 percent butterfat and 442 pounds. The top milker was Tim-Ayr Bayberry with 14490 pounds in 305 days on two daily milkings. Harvey's Blondie Like led in butterfat with 601 pounds. 33 Arrests in Crackdown on Illegal Liquor in Swisher
In Swisher Iowa authorities arrested 33 people on a Saturday night crackdown on underage beer and liquor possession under a new state law. 25 juveniles and 8 adults were fined $100 each after checks of about 500 vehicles, yielding 100 cans or bottles of beer and two bottles of liquor. Adults faced charges of contributing to delinquency of a minor while juveniles faced illegal possession charges. A similar raid at Lake Delhi in Delaware County led to two adults and 31 minors paying $3,150 in fines.
