Eight Dead In Panama Mine Explosion At Moundsville
Eigh miners feared dead after a gas blast at the Panama mine of the Benjamin Franklin Coal Co in Moundsville West Virginia. Rescue efforts led by Moreman C B McCabe brought out two severely burned miners William Hupp and Joseph Minutin as crews pushed three quarters of a mile into the shaft before gas forced a retreat.

Freight crew discharged after Illinois Central rear-end collision
