Body Found in Ft Madison Home Craig Sheaffer Shoots Self
Craig R. Sheaffer 63 chairman of the W A Sheaffer Pen Co was found dead at his Ft Madison home from a self inflicted 12 gauge shotgun wound. He was despondent over health and left a loaded chamber. Funeral services were tentatively set for Tuesday. He had served as assistant secretary of commerce in the Eisenhower administration and later chaired the family pen firm. John A. Alvine aged 81 died Saturday evening at Memorial Hospital Mt. Pleasant after a long illness. Funeral services are set for 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at Swedesburg Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. He was born in Sweden September 20, 1879 and came to Swedesburg in 1914. He was a deacon in the Swedesburg Lutheran Church and married Albertina Samuelson in 1891 who died March 11, 1944. He is survived by two daughters Mrs Florian Sanbury and Mrs Virgil Johnson, both of Mt. Pleasant, and four sons John H of Winfield Henry of Mt. Pleasant Swan of Olds and Maurice of Ainsworth.
