DES MOINES July 9 Two counties Dickinson and Emmet voted on road bonds totaling 1 573 000 under the forty third general assembly. Dickinson proposed 850 000 for highways including paving Milford Jokoboji to the Minnesota line and Spirit Lake to Emmet county line. Emmet would finance highway 9 from the Dickinson line to Kossuth and possibly highway 17 Estherville to Palo Alto County, with funds also aiding other regional projects.

Workmen are in the Biklen Store renovating for a modern interior. When complete the store will feature island center counters, wall displays, mahogany woodwork, and re papered walls. Manager Russell Jennings says costs will run into several thousand dollars with several new departments added and re arranged layout to rival a much larger variety store. Final completion is expected in about two weeks.
