Dr George Kerr of United Presbyterian preached at the union church service in Central Park on The Defense of Freedom. He urged constant vigilance to preserve liberty and cited Samson as an example of fighting for freedom. The sermon stressed loyalty to fallen soldiers and the need to avoid bondage to sin. Prayers were offered by Reverends Walter Smith Alfred Trenerry and Scripture read by Reverend Thomas Polk. Sara Lu Miller sang and Carolyn Hamilton led congregational singing. Next Sunday Reverend Thomas Polk will preach at the Christian church.

Guard Shoots 8 Nazi Prisoners in Utah Camp
Salina Utah July 9 A 23 year old tower guard Private Clarence Bertucci of New Orleans fired a 30 caliber machine gun into sleeping German prisoners of war at Ogden base camp branch in Salina killing eight and wounding 20 others. Bertucci was placed in military custody after the incident occurring about 1230 a m officials said.
